Ready, set, jump! ...If only it was as easy as that!
Throwing yourself out of a plane might seem crazy. For some people, the idea of skydiving in Birmingham metro area is utter madness no matter how they look at it. For others, skydiving is an adrenaline rush that they want to feel again and again! If you are an adrenaline junkie like us, get ready for a mind blowing experience with Accelerated FreeFall Skydiving Training in Birmingham metro area!
Now, you might be wondering, "What's the difference between Accelerated FreeFall and Tandem Skydiving?" Accelerated FreeFall is skydiving on an entirely new level. Instead of your instructor being strapped to you, your AFF program consists of two instructors (or one in some cases) who jump with you and help guide your freefall. Once your parachute opens, you are given either radio or hand signals to guide you safely back to the dropzone. If you've acquired a taste for the rush of the sport after your first tandem skydive, then enrolling in a course with one of Skydiving Birmingham Alabama's affiliate skydiving schools is the best thing you can do to learn.
Skydiving Birmingham Alabama is a member of the largest network of dropzones in America and we have an Birmingham Skydiving School near you. Everything you need to know about Accelerated FreeFall Skydiving is just a short drive away. Trust your advanced training to a USPA Certified Birmingham Skydiving School and learn to skydive solo in as little as a few weeks!
Among the topics you'll be taught, on the first day at the Birmingham Skydiving School nearest you, will be basic skydiving procedures, free fall body position, safety routines, canopy deployment, and canopy control. You'll complete the actual skydive later that same day or on the following day. This depends on time, weather and instructor avilability.
The first jump of your Accelerated FreeFall course involves jumping from approximately 14,000 feet. Two instructors will be with you through the entire experience. You'll be required to respond to hand signals from the instructor, check the altimeter, and practice deploying the parachute (prior to actual deployment). You'll also receive instructions from radio equipment to guide you as you glide to the landing zone. After your first jump through the Alabama sky, the instructor will examine the video and find ways for you to improve all around. If they're satisfied with your performance, congratulations! You are ready for the next level.
Level 2 of your Accelerated FreeFall course provides you with a chance to refine your body position. It involves 2 instructors, but one of them may release you for a moment to test your stability in the air. The instructor will take hold of you again as you deploy your parachute.
In level 3, both instructors will release their grip to observe how well you can maintain stability in freefall. This is the first time in your Skydiving Birmingham Alabama course that you'll be skydiving on your own! After the jump, the instructors will again examine the videos to identify areas where you can improve your skydiving ability and technique.
This time, only one instructor will accompany you on the jump. You're well on your way to becoming a certified student through a Skydiving Birmingham Alabama affiliate! Level 4 involves practicing 90 degree maneuvers in both directions. Before going on to the next level, you'll have to perfect this process.
Similar to level 4, level 5 involves practicing your turns in the air in both directions. But turning 360 degrees is more complicated than the previous 90 degree turns. After the jump, your instructors will evaluate whether you are ready for the next level or if you require more practice.
Level 6 involves performing a "front loop". Imagine somersaulting mid-air and then regaining your stability; this is very close to what you have to do. More importantly, you will be learning how to track. "Tracking" is rapid forward movement that creates a distance between you and the instructor. Once the instructor is satisfied that you can perform these perfectly, you'll be briefed about Level 7 of your Birmingham Skydiving School course.
The last step involves practicing everything you learned throughout the Accelerated FreeFall skydiving course. You'll exit the plane, perform the front loop, make the 360 degree turn to your left and right, and track away from the instructor. After this level, you will be ready and certified to skydive on your own!
